Why it exists

I got tired of renting features that should just be in the app.

Every podcast player I tried had the thing I wanted, and every one of them had put it behind a subscription. A sleep timer. Silence trimming. Controlling what downloads and when. None of it is hard, none of it costs anyone anything to run, and all of it was being held just out of reach as a monthly reminder that the app wasn't really mine.

Mostly I wanted downloads to behave the way I think about them: the newest episode of everything I follow, already on the phone, without being asked. Not a queue I curate the night before a flight. I wanted it to just be there. So I built the player I wanted to use, and this is it.

It follows the same rules as content, the reader it grew out of. Nothing is pushed at you. Nothing is ranked for you. Nothing is held back to sell you later. You buy it once and it's a tool you own — simple, straightforward, and honest about what it does.

Skip Ad

And yes — it finds the ad breaks.

As an episode arrives, your phone transcribes it and reads that transcript with a model trained on hundreds of real episodes — it has learned the turns of phrase that start a sponsor read. All of it happens on the phone. Nothing is uploaded, and no server ever learns what you played.

What it finds is drawn straight onto the scrubber, so you can see a break coming. The Skip Ad button tells you how long the break is and jumps exactly that far — instead of tapping +30 five times and hoping.

It isn't magic and it isn't sold as magic. Ads a host reads aloud in the middle of the show are the hard case, and there it lands close rather than exact. The button is always there and always does something sensible, and every tap you make teaches it.

And the Skip Ad button on the now-playing screen, which matters more here than anywhere else: a car is the one place you genuinely cannot reach for your phone and skip four minutes of advertising yourself.

Skip Ad

A button that's always there. When the app knows where a break is, it tells you how long it is and skips exactly that far. Every tap you make teaches it — and it never guesses on your behalf unless you ask it to.

Found on your device

Ad detection runs on your phone, on the copy of the audio you actually received. Nothing is uploaded, no server sees what you listen to — and because ads are now assembled per listener, analysing your own file is the only way to get it right.

Search inside episodes

Transcripts are searchable, and a match is a timestamp — tap it and playback starts at the sentence you were looking for.

Tappable show notes

Timestamps in show notes become links — tap "42:15" and playback jumps there. Chapter marks are supported too, from the feed or from the audio file, on the few shows that publish them.

Brings your library with you

Import an OPML file from any other podcast app and every show arrives at once, folders included. Export it again whenever you like — leaving should be as easy as arriving.

Private feeds welcome

Patreon, Supporting Cast, Substack — paste the address and it works like any other show. Addresses carrying an access token are kept out of every log and diagnostics screen.
